すべてに時がある。
こんにちは！私は香港からきたメイです。東京に住んでいます。私はクリスチャンのアーティストです。夫のビリーと私は、2017の12月から東京に住んでいます。私は2018年の6月にホームシックにかかりひどく落ち込んでいました。なぜこんなに辛い経験をしなければならないのかと悩む中、ある日、主がコヘレトの言葉３：１〜１５を通して私を目覚ましてくださいました。
すべてに時がある。
1 何事にも時があり、天の下の出来事にはすべて定められた時がある。
2 生まれる時と死ぬ時、植える時と植えたものを抜く時、
3 殺す時と癒す時、破壊する時と建てる時、
4 泣く時と笑う時、嘆く時と踊る時、
5 石を放つ時と石を集める時、抱擁の時と抱擁を遠ざける時、
6 求める時と失う時、保つ時と放つ時、
7 裂く時と縫う時、黙する時と語る時、
8 愛する時と憎む時、戦いの時と平和の時。
9 人が労苦してみたところで何になろう。
10 わたしは、神が人の子らにお与えになった務めを見極めた。
11 神はすべてを時宜にかなうように造り、また、永遠を思う心を人に与えられる。
12 私は知った。人間にとって最も幸福なのは喜び楽しんで一生を送ることだ、と。
13人だれもが飲み食いし、その労苦によって満足するのは神の賜物だ、と。
14私は知った。すべて神の業は永遠に不変であり、付け加えることも除くことも許されない、と。神は人間が神を畏れ敬うように定められた。
15今あることは、既にあったこと。追いやられたものを、神は尋ね求められる。
泣く時と笑う時があるという聖書の言葉は、私に深い慰めと解放を与えてくださいました。そして今私は生き返ったように回復しました！主を褒め称えます。
自分自身に素直になること。私たちは、“大丈夫じゃない”と感じる時、その思いを自分に許してあげることをもっと学ぶ必要があると思います。そして、自分は大丈夫じゃないと認める時、すぐに癒しを受け取ることができます。大丈夫じゃなくても大丈夫です。悲しみはある日訪れます。その時一番大切なのは、どんなに辛い経験をしている時でも、神は私たちを深く愛しているのでいつも私たちと共にいるということです。
この辛い経験をソーシャルメディアで分かち合ってから、数名の方が来て、彼らも過去に同じ経験をしたと話してくれました。今も誰かがこの辛さ経験しています。私の日本人の友人達は、東京にいるほとんどの人達が、ひどい孤独感や孤立を感じていると語っています。私はこの経験がほんの２ヶ月間だったことに感謝しています。そして、なぜ私がこの経験をしたのかをようやく理解することができ、また、日本の主にある人々を理解することができました。主は私に、東京の主にある人々の心を、寂しさを理解させたかったのだと思います。主は、私たちの旅路を異なるステージへと導くことを通して、憐れみと愛を示してくださいました。
そして、私はこの“美しい”ストーリーを作品によって分かち合い、日本の人々を祝福し、今順調な人も落ち込んでいる人にも、いつも主が共にいるということを伝えたいと思いました。このプロジェクトにより、私は2019年の日本語の飾り文字カレンダーにコヘレトの言葉３：１〜８を基にした箇所を添えて、 “すべてに時がある” と題して作成しました。
当初は、私がこれまで作成してきたような英語の飾り文字で作ろうと考えていました。去年は展示会のために１コリント人への手紙13:4〜7に基づいて“愛とは…”というシリーズを作成していました。
しかし、主に祈り、そして聖書箇所を３つの異なる言語で学んだ時、私は英単語ではアートを通して完全に表現することはできないということに気づきました。ある朝、主は私に日本の飾り文字に挑戦するように求められました。その後ずっと、主は完成するまで毎日私にアイディアを与えてくださいました。主を褒め称えます。
約束と虹
主のなさることはすべて時にかなって美しい。そして虹は主の約束です。たとえ“最悪”な経験をしていると思うような時でも、私たちがより良い人になるためでありその経験からいつも何かを学ぶことができます。主は私たち全員に最善の時計を持っておられます。主の愛は私たちを強くします。
私たちは聖書を通してわかるように、主はご自身の約束を主の民が思い出せるように、目に見えるサインを与えてくださっています。創世記9章では、神がその約束を結んだ際に空に虹をかけました。神は、私たちが嵐を経験しないとは約束されませんでしたが、嵐のような時でも神が私たちと共におられることを約束してくださいました。
創世記9章16節
“雲の中に虹が現れると、わたしはそれを見て、神と地上のすべての生き物、すべて肉なるものとの間に立てた永遠の契約に心を留める。”

A time for everything
Hello!! This is May from Hong Kong, currently living in Tokyo. I am a Christian artist. My husband, Billy and I have been living in Tokyo since December 2017. And I was experiencing home sick and depression in June 2018. I was not sure why I had to go through this until one day I was woken up by God through the bible verses from Ecclesiastes 3:1-15.
A Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
9 What do workers gain from their toil?
10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.
13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.
14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
15 Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account.
That gave me a lot of comfort and released me as the bible says, there is a time to weep and a time to laugh. So I just felt alive again! Praise the Lord.
Be honest to yourself. Learn to let ourselves feel "I am not okay" sometimes, and whenever we admit, we will get healed soon. “It is okay to be not okay. The sadness will pass one day. The most important thing is, whenever we experience a down time, God is always with us because He loves us so much.”
After sharing about this tough time on social media, some people came to me and told me that they had also had the same experience for over a year. Some of them are going through it. Some of my Japanese friends shared that most of the people in Tokyo are quite lonely and isolated. I am thankful that I only experienced it for 2 months. And I finally understand why I have to experience it so that I can understand God's people in Japan. It seemed like God wanted me to feel and understand fully of His people’s lonely hearts in Tokyo. He has shown us His mercy and love through different stages of journey.
So I wanted to share this “beautiful” story through my artworks, and bless the people in Japan and also for whoever is experiencing ups and downs now, God is always with you. Come to the project, I have made a 2019 Japanese calligraphy calendar with English verses based on the Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 called “A time for everything” .
Initially, I was thinking to do western calligraphy like what I usually do. This was the series I did last year for the exhibition called "love is..." based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
After praying and studying the Bible in 3 different languages, I found that the selected English keywords couldn't be fully expressed through the artworks. One morning, God wanted me to try to do Japanese calligraphy. Ever since that day, God gave me ideas every day until it is done. Praise the Lord.
PROMISES AND RAINBOWS
God has made everything beautiful in His time. And the rainbow is the promise of God. Even it seemed to be a “bad” experience in the beginning, we could always learn from it in order to become a better person. God has the best clock for everyone of us. His love makes us strong.
As we study through the Bible, we’ll see God giving His people visible signs to help them remember His covenant promises. In Genesis 9, God sealed His promise with a rainbow in the sky. God did not promise we will never experience storms, but He has promised He will be with us during those times.
Genesis 9:16
“Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
